I can hear the hits
I can tell you're angry
But this isn’t as bad as it usually gets

I’m only little
Why can’t you guys just stop
This is all I yelled
When I heard someone drop

Everything went quiet
And I heard the door slam shut
There was something wrong
But I just didn’t know what

I was so little
Yet you left me so wrong
You left her laying on the ground
You were just too strong

You hit her till she fell
You smacked her till she broke
As if we were nothing to you
But just a big joke

I’m not sure whether to be happy
Or if I should sit and cry
All I knew was this was the last time
I was going to have to tell you goodbye

So I sat and smiled
And thought about the past
I thought about the happy times
And wondered why they didn’t last

I remember when you used to smile
And hold me so very tight
But then suddenly
You and mommy started to fight

The fighting got bad
And you’d hit her so hard
I would sit in my room
Praying for a guard

Mom was finally done
She just wanted to let go
So she fell to the ground
Then you walked out into the cold snow

As I cried in my room
Rocking on my knees
I wanted to lock you outside
And throw away the keys

But it's over now,
I can stop crying
Mommy get up
Why aren’t you even trying?

You just lay there
Not a movement in sight
As I wait for you to wake
And it soon becomes night

You are still sleeping
What am I to do
You look so peaceful
And your lips are turning blue

Can you hear me
As I scream out your name
Does anyone hear me
Or has the end come to the game?

this took me way back to my own childhood, remembering my mother laying out on the floor stabbed and broken, but she survived,
thank you for sharing....
