This One's For You

Contributed by the_unknown on Wednesday, 9th June 2010 @ 12:09:31 AM in AEST
Topic: poets

I'm dying to know who you are
But to know the ear of which knows your every cry
Is frightening

Sitting here, behind a screen
I'm safe
You can't see me, I can't see you
You read my fears
My cries of help
You break way into my imagination
You read of my love, a love that is so strong I hope you feel it
In your soul
Your eyes study my every word
Words created from my thoughts, thoughts that were carved from everything that makes me
Me
You judge me upon how artistically I try to weave my words together
You judge me upon the meaning behind each verse
I try my best to make art from my raw emotion
I don't attempt to impress you, I only try to show myself for who I am
I only write to express myself

It sounds quite selfish, indeed
But I find it interesting...
Reading and feeling other peoples completely real and honest emotions
Visualizing scenes from their life
Interpreting deeper meanings
Trying to understand other peoples morals or beliefs
I find it all fascinating
I hope you do, too

There's a certain relationship between a poet and it's readers
A mystery, unsolved
Even though I long to know who you really are, I wish to never find out
Let's keep it a secret, you and I
So we can share this forever

Close but no closer, exploring the relationship between poet and readers in a very open and honest way, expressing fascination of the life behind the screen, but wanting to keep that distance, exploring the judgements we make and the way we try to understand through the small number of pieces we are given to work with, great write interactive and personable

It's a very interesting, insightful and caprivating read. I must say that the mstery between the poet and a reader is always there, but there is always a possibility of it to be created when you read the poem. My understanding of that mystery is that if reader can relate, feel through, understand and live the poem then the poet has captured him/her and on that level a certain amount of mystery develops.

You put into words so beautifully, what most of us are too scared to say. Well done...
