Array ( [sid] => 160177 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => That Friday in May [time] => 2010-05-27 16:52:14 [hometext] => My boyfriend blew me off to get high and play video games...so I wrote an emotional poem. It's how we cope, hah. [bodytext] => Oh, blissful Fridays, how they've changed so much
A relationship once burning with passion is
Now starting to sizzle out for such
A pathetic reason...my happiness is less important than his.

He's mad I'm staying late, so you dare ask me to leave?
My soul aches to tell you no, but I know that I cannot
I never knew his contentment was more valuable than me
Are you really that afraid of losing your connection to pot?

I fought back tears until the car ride home when you
Texted me, asking if I was okay. It was the first
Time I had to lie to you. I told you I was fine...but it was never true
I went home that night and sobbed for hours...a confused, silent outburst.

Our relationship has changed drastically in every way
And you're still unaware it's because of that Friday in May. The most gripping aspect of this passage is your sincerity
there are no words to comfort one in your place
there is no magic wand to manipulate truth
but your words are like a sword, sharpened by awareness
Honestly a touching piece

I'm sorry your boyfriend did this to you, but I liked how the poem told the story. The ending was especially well done.
