FINNEGAN THE SQUIRREL

Debbie, a sweet lady with a kind hearted soul
took in a baby squirrel to console

She named him Finnegan, and bottle fed him
with the help of her pregnant Papillion, Mademoiselle Giselle.
The dog adored Finnegan, her love to prevail

Finnegan was resting in a nest in a cage just days before
the little Papillion gave birth.
She dragged the cage twice to her wooden berth

She was so sensitive with her mother's love, she sensed the
little squirrel critter
needed nourishment and comfort to be a "Happy Camper."

Debbie was most concerned, but decided to let Finnegan join her family
Therein began, inter-species bonding, and everyone was comfy.

Finnegan made himself right at home among the litter of puppies.
He burrowed his way down and in between, searching for the goodies.

Two days after giving birth, mama dog Giselle allowed Finnegan to be nursed;
She encouraged him to suckle along with her pups, so Finnegan immersed.

Finnegan mostly uses a bottle, but still snuggles in a "Furrypit"
Rolling atop their bodies, and sinking in deeply, closely kit.

Finnegan, and the five Papillion puppies, get along together just great
Even though to nature, he may be a mistake, or a "mismate!"

Nose to nose, and heart to heart, a picture to behold.
5 Papillion puppies, and orphaned squirrel gently conjoled

Created from a lovely email from my dear
friends Bern and Martha in Austria
Thank you dears.........
The poem is mine.

I loved the moral to this true story,
so with you I'd like to share:
"Keep loving everyone, even the "Squirrelly ones!"
with no one be unfair."

*Squirrelly Smiles*

I agree with your take on the scientists verdict. I fully believe that animals have feelings and especially for their owner. This is an adorable write and thank you for sharing.

If I didn't know better I will ask how much pain you endured to put together a piece as good as this, but a poetic heart endures pain without pen and paper and finds fulfillment with excess of it.
I love it most that you stroke a balance between the idea and the presentation. the idea is beautiful and the rhyming 'gorgeous'
you have a wonderful piece here

I think it's the scientists that don't have feelings...perhaps. This was really heart warming, Consue!!! Loved every minute of it.

Smile!
