“Laughter is day, and sobriety is night; a smile is the twilight that hovers gently
between both, more bewitching than either.” ~ Henry Ward Beecher
~ *~
Limited, my tears drown in the sorrow
of emptiness–
even the air no longer breathes
There is a quiet in this world
that does not persuade the muse;
does not regard imagination;
does not bring, but a burning loneliness
and it all but halts the rapid
beating of the deepest ache
life does not alter
until
I hear that soft dulcet sound;
words from a voice so impossibly in tune,
that it melts all distance between us
The delicate coo,
so melodious it trumps the nightingale’s call,
takes me in its strong but gentle arms
and fires my soul
My life soars into crushing delirium
I have never known such freedom
I am drawn to your heat
Bold colours drip from every cleft
lining the night and my tears with
luxurious remembrance
(the absent air seems
otherwise intolerable)
But your sweetness scents my bed
ushering my dreams with little effort
dawn rushes
and I awaken to sun drenched sheets
that sigh for lack of you ~
Morning
and all that I retain
is the taste of your smile
and the promise of your irrepressible occupation,
to colour my world
and sing me into tomorrow

I have lost love in the figurative sense; he stopped caring for me or I him and we parted ways. That seperation is unbearable, but the seperation of death I could not even fathom. Your heartbreak breaks my heart as did this poem. I hope you find happiness my friend. |

What luxurious surrender. . .
Simply a delightful metaphoric experience that leaves one in awe. . . in comfort. . .
& just inside the fragile, sweetness of your words, a subtle, deft delicacy. . .
A garden of delight!
elle :) smiling as she sifts through the intricacies. |

It is wonderfully evident that you have taken "absence makes the heart grow fonder" and have elaborated upon it in a manner of genius. Extraordinary! |

"My life soars into crushing delirium

Splendid lines! They ring so true to me. I can relate completely to those lines. |

Your ability to dress up longing and despair are truly astounding. I am reading along, and your choice of words to express sadness, loss, disappointment, and an all-encompassing love are incredible. My gut wrenches because you paint such a stark picture.
Keep at it Roxie. I know there is a giant sized Scorpio ROAAAARRRRRR in there.
Forever a fan,
~Scorp ;) |
