Our first words, the implications, complicated expectations
Confiscated blissful youth, as age alone reveals the truth
Fact and fiction once entwined a time for lies, to keep us blind
To shield us from what we’ll become as youth will creep away
No longer will such childish games, the mildest aims to wildest dames
Even keep our brains so entertained, this blissful state of mind
I’ll miss the times the sun would shine with friends of mine on railway lines
The only pester on my mind, the quest ahead, what could I find?
Each day new bricks are torn away, our disposition disarray
Disgusted by veracity, the human incapacity
To live and breathe so consciously and see the world so clear
Society’s deception is the only contraception with such intimate depression
Is the lesson we must learn in time sweet child… in time
This fairytale existence is short lived though not without resistance
As our inner immaturity has stolen center stage
Now let us be, so we can see the fact of our mortality
And how the world will treat us when perception’s not so kind [comments] => 2 [counter] => 214 [topic] => 48 [informant] => robcraige [notes] => Corrected a minor typo ~ Moderator_18 May 9, 2010 [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 10 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 0 [associated] => [topicname] => EmotionalPoetry )
