AnniversaryPoems

This the seven year itch. The eczema of estrangement.
Our pyrrhic fall as autumn androgynes is now
As distant as reconciliatory shores.
Borderline avoidants, born as Hamlet’s father,
Drew diagrams of death in the frost fair of ’98.
Annotated with the thrill of despair. For no-one.
We learnt the geometry of freedom by starlight and
The physics of hurt by scarlight. All mapped out
Like the dying constellations we longed to be.
We sampled nightshade and nicotine and alcohol caresses.
Cavorting with cancer we danced in the oxygen chamber.
Drunk and delirious with the heat of existence.
My Caucasian prince, so hard by his touch. That
Never did come and only remains in the thoughts
Of a dying libido, thirsty in the Scandinavian sun.
So faithless in the flood with the anarchy of lust.
Practitioners of poison with jealous abandon,
Forged treachery in cold blood.
Green glitter stains remain where you don’t. Your lips
Spoke nor tasted of sincerity to her, and she knew. But
Why straddle the truth when we already burnt Leviticus?
So, Plastic Pisces, mein enemy of always. Come dance
A while to the tunes we once bled to. To illicit piano chords and
Mistletoe whispers. I scratched your heart out as we coveted hers.
Let’s all meet up in the year of the Rat. A decade of
Ghosts and incarnate flashbacks. I roam these rooms so changed,
Drinking memories and clutching at theories of stone tape.
Envisage our bitter reunion in the season of decay,
Damp grass and long sleeves in the mists of September.
A lifetime on, hear my truth once again.
