The model of serenity,
I make all feel at ease.

Inside I am chaos;
The anthesis of relaxed,
I make myself feel awkward.

If only I could slay my demons?
Disposing of these insecurites,
Like so much garbage?
If only. . . .

For if I could,
Then I'd shout "freedom!"
Until my voice grew hoarse,
And my tongue became as dry as sandpaper.

Yet as it is, I continue to act;
Never confiding in others,
For this is a war I must win on my own. [comments] => 7 [counter] => 258 [topic] => 61 [informant] => JakerBaker88 [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 12 [ratings] => 3 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => selfstruggles )

A very good poem. You summed up the feelings of inner struggle very well here. Great job.

Then I'd shout freedom, how wonderful that must be to have complete inner peace, and how right you are....I must win on my own, well written

I know exactly how you feel. I do not think you're alone. Many of us put on that mask and put up the front. If only, yes, we could shed that and shout freedom.

Well expressed my dear. Even if you have not that person to confide in, at least you have poetry, yes?

Tim

There is something to be said for strength of conviction.
But there are times when even the strongest of us needs
to purge, leaning on someone's shoulder. Even if it just
takes the form of poetry ;) There is something familiar
in your words that a lot of people could benefit from. A
comfort of sorts. Thank you for sharing.

Great post! -- Achelois
