mick arian miller, when he was born
almost lost him right then; was forwarned
but the doctors brought him around again
mara, mick, george, then our lives began
my world was bright
again i labored all through the night
mick, my second child, always like the sun
life brought us pain yet he'd never run
always by my side with a smile on his face
no matter what went down, a hugging embrace,

ahh but life can a wicked web weave
my time with this special son was breve
he saw a life he wanted more
packed up his things and went out the door
i followed him and to home brought him back
that's when our lives were really ransacked
when someone's not happy in the life you choose
you must let them go, or forever you will loose
at that time to me, his mom, he'd no longer cling
mick was a young man who felt destined to be king,

and now his life is lived elsewhere
we are hardly thought of with nary a care
he's raised by relatives who have money to burn
life here in the mountains mick has adjourned
i cannot compete with these gold diggers hearts
they showed him the world on a platter, so smart
when you love someone, yes, you set them free
now he attends a nine thousand dollar acadamy
ahh it doesn't matter he is a happy young man
now he lives within' an italian clan,

times missing him, that's when my heart breaks
i wonder does he sleep now, or is he awake?
what are the thoughts that run through his head
at least all unspoken words now have been said
mick has lived away from home for two years
i think now i have cried all my tears
least the boys not sappy
he seems to be quite happy
mick's new world's given him many things
except the song of our morning dove that sings.

2014 author's note: mick did return home shortly after i wrote this; he has become a scientist:)

hugs to you nessa...how this must of hurt you...love is not money, as you know. the unconditional love you show your kids can never be sold from a store. can never be gained from the bricks of an academy...
one day your son will wake up to this realization...hope it's sooner then later. i went through the same thing, only i was the wayward child. when i realized that i was on the wrong path, my parents supported me in my emotional thime of need....and to that i amm forever greatful but never in debt in their eyes...i am faithful that you would do the same. and i know you are quite aware of these tangled matters of the heart...and the things love can do...sometimes it just helps to hear it, hope i made you smile...
love,
kara

I cried as I read this. I feel your pain my dear friend. I have known this pain for many years. It will work out one day....believe.
If I can ever get signed in here I have 2 poems to post.
Maybe when you read them(if you read them) you will see I do know your pain and what came for me.
Miracles do happen ,my friend.......I will hope that you find that you are...undefeated after all.

Keep your faith....he will see love is not for sale....and come to his Mother.
(((hugs)))

Oh, Nessa, what a tear-jerking, heartbreaking piece, but I'm sure in time he will return to you, don't let sorrow overwhelm you know that he's still around and just a phone call away, ( you should have grounded him till he was 25 yrs old, Ha, Ha) hugs to you Val

I can only imagine the pain you must be going through. I look at my parents and see the pain in their eyes now that my older sister has nothing to do with them....and I wonder, in the years to come, if my children will choose to maintain a relationship with me....

money can corrupt the best of us and soil the most purest of us... it seems that your sweet son has lost view of what life is about and will soon hopefully soon become the prodigal son and come back to what is best for him... i love the style of writing it is completely new to me

Well written. Interesting perception.
Wonder what Mick would write, could
he do so, from his own point of view.
Best wishes for a positive adult relationship,
when that time comes. MB
