Array ( [sid] => 159033 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Letters to dad [time] => 2010-04-19 13:55:23 [hometext] => I wrote this poem after my father passed away unexpectedly in September of 2009, we never had a very close relationship but i wanted him to know that i'll always love him no matter the mistakes he made in his life! [bodytext] => Dear dad,
I think about you often
I think about the memories we had
Full of good times but mostly sad
I think about your love
And how you’ll always be my dad
I’ll never forget you
You meant so much to me
And now you’re up in heaven
Looking down on me
I promise to make you proud
To always please you
and do right
I promise to watch over Karleigh
Even though we tend to fight
I’m sorry you had to leave
I’m devastated you had to go
But I guess it was your time
Even though I wanted to be selfish and say “no”
There’s only so much you can do if something’s meant to happen
So I set into reality and unwillingly excepted your passing
I hope you can see me right now, writing this poem to you today
Just so that you know I miss you more and more each day
I hope you hear the prayers I send to heaven each night
The things I wish for
The things god grants me
Keeping both sides of the family alright
I realize in the past we’ve both made our share of mistakes
Not always treating each other right
But none of that concerns me now
There’s no need to fight
I forgive you for all the wrong choices you made
Even though they hurt me so
But only because I’m now upset that I had to let you go
There’s no such thing as perfect
Trust me I know
I send my love, my thoughts, my goals and my dreams
To you in the heavens above
Patiently waiting until the day we meet again
Letting my feelings get locked away
Waiting
Waiting for that day
When I’ll get to say “hi daddy I missed you while you were away.”
Your little girl,
Taylor <3

There is absolutely no doubt whatsoever in my
mind that your Dad Knew when alive and knows
now that you loved him. Believe me, a Dad knows
these things and always thinks of his daughters
as his "Little Girls" no matter how old they become.
This is a very fitting tribute from a precious and wonderful
thing; the heart of a loving daughter.
Blessings,
Rob

This truly moved me ... it was just over a year ago I had to say goodbye to my dad.
So here I sit with tears in my eyes and thoughts of the days gone by ...
knowing one day both our dads will hold us and tell us it is all alright.

Peace to you my friend
~Shannon
