My Lord did humbly bend the knee.
Praying all night for the world at large
And wrestling with His mighty charge.

Yet as His disciples prayed to God
Their weary heads began to nod
And soon drifted off to sleep
Jesus alone; they slumbered deep.

In the morn He woke them saying,
“Why were you sleeping when you should be praying?”
They had no answer for their Lord
But when soldiers came they slashed with sword.

Severed ear fell to ground
Which Jesus replaced without a sound.
He was led away in captivity
But they did not know it was His destiny.

Pilate succumbed to the crowds demands,
To the cross they nailed His healing hands.
“Forgive them for they know not what they do,”
He pleaded to God for me and you!

“It is Finished!” He said with final breath,
And the Devil rejoiced at His death.
His followers mourned for Him aloud
Yet on the third day He threw off His shroud!

For He came to seek and to save what was lost
Bringing light to a world, though at great cost.
He freely bore the sin of every man
Securing once and for all Salvation’s Plan! [comments] => 4 [counter] => 247 [topic] => 11 [informant] => brasco [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 10 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => ChristianPoetry )

Written with great honour I am very sure!
Very well penned, I enjoyed this a lot.
Your thoughtful rhyming scheme has really added to the story, bringing it to life........
Poignant, and precious x

"For God so loved the world that he
gave his one and only Son, that
whoever believes in him shall not perish
but have eternal life." ~John 3:16

It really is so hard to comprehend that
our Savior gladly gave his life to save
such a corrupt world, and yet...that was
the greatest act of love shown to man.
this is a wonderful piece, expressing the
destiny of Jesus and his love for us.

Thank you for sharing it and may He bless
you always.

He is Risen!
