'79

Contributed by chrisdavid on Saturday, 3rd April 2010 @ 02:36:09 AM in AEST
Topic: Nostalgic

Look at what this world has become
Years ago was where you had all your fun
Back then there was no place for war
'79
Was the year you were looking for

Now you're worried about what you say
You didn't care about it in your day
Back then we never lived in fear
'79
Was this the greatest year?

It was the year that touched your heart
It was the year that filled your soul
No stone was left unturned
There was nothing you did not know
When you stood out by the sea
And you looked across the coast
This was the year...
You loved most

Really enjoyed the nostalgia and the yearning for a time of peace and freedom,I wonder what this would have sounded like if you had personalised it.

Well written, and a great piece to ponder over.
I agree that that in 31 years, we have positively moved forward in many many ways so far,
yet equally spiralled back into times of great poverty and disdain suffered much before the time of this year (79).
Well done for a great piece!

What a great way to look back on things in such a perspective. Never forgetting the past is important as it has brought us this far. A great choice for a subject you have selected and well written.

take care
