[hometext] => I'm remembering happy carefree days 50 years ago!
[bodytext] => Down by the stream Down by the stream the sticklebacks started, Darted and parted the green weed with glancing flight Of silver slivers, red-streaked, bright, Under rippled, sun-stippled mirrored sky. Above swirling eddies the summer heat shimmered on dragon-fly wings, As they, whirring and whirling, had their irredescent fling, flashing Like sunlight off glass. We dipped our hands in the ice-cold water and touched the clouds Where the lark ascending sang aloud Of heat-hazed horizons, far-away ethereal things. In the tall dry grass, stalk felling, we made our nests, sweet-smelling Flattened crop circles, where, hidden like mice We hunkered in our wavy-walled bunkers, Hidden from the hawks of our fears By the comfort cover of the concealing grass. Sweet heaven it was to curl in our green dens With the hot sun feather-light on our lithe limbs As we cupped hands, grasping a rasping grasshopper, Or enfolded a meadow butterfly in tickled palms.
