Array ( [sid] => 158543 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => ~A Lost Friendship~ [time] => 2010-03-30 18:22:35 [hometext] => Thanks to YPDC I have found my best friend after 37 years....or should I say she found me... I posted this poem on the old site in 2001.. and her sister saw it recently and Ingrid got in touch with me... [bodytext] => She was the only true friend I ever had,
The only person I could really talk to.
The only one who ever understood me,
That's why she meant so much to me.
No one ever tried to understand us
Or the meaning of our relationship.
All they ever tried to do
was break up our meaningful friendship.
But through those long, weary days,
We fought with valour for our friendship.

We were like sisters, she and I.
We had confidence, faith and respect for each other.
She shared her spoils, her desires with me,
I disclosed my dreams, my hopes to be.
We spent both bright and gloomy days together,
Discussing all the things we planned to do.
Enjoying each other's company, even when sad,
Never to each other were we really mad.

But then, an angry tide of change drowned our resolutions.
We do not talk now but I still think of her as my friend.
And somehow, I know she still does do.
And deep down within my heart,
I know she will always be there,
when I should need a friend.
But no matter how hard I try
I can never forget how close we were
Or the friendship that was true and rare;
The happiness and joy we once shared
Or the fact that we both once cared.

Today, here I am, all alone.
There is no greater sorrow for me
Than to recall, in misery
The times when we were happy.
I think of her so often, and just as often I sigh,
To think of the fun I'm missing,
Now that our friendship has died...
But I'll keep on waiting and hoping
That maybe someday soon,
We can be friends again.
For I know I can never find another friend like her..
So beautiful, so kind, so thoughtful and so true.

I wrote this when I was 16..
My best friend and I had just had a major falling out.
We lost touch soon after. She left the island and has never returned...
and I have never heard from her since.
It was always my hope that she would return home some day.

I think that this goes to show that a true bond may stretch sometimes, but it never breaks.
You overcame the storm and now the sun is shining on your friendship again.
What more could anyone ask ?

What an answer to a prayer and it only goes to show
that God moves in His own time. We can never give
up on our hearts desires. This is a very inspirational
and moving write and I rejoice with you, Jenni. Reminds
me of the Prodigal son from the Bible.
Blessings,
Rob

Wow really loved this poem you know poetry are feelings we have deep inside us and the only way to let others know how we feel are to write down the words keep writing. sent you a poem about losing a friend it's called How Sweet It Is, keep useing that great gift you have I jnow you will.

How Sweet It Is

I woke up one morning and I heard Lord calling,
Calling for me, for me to come home.

For there in a distance I saw my Lord Jesus,
With nail scared hands and a robe white as snow.

How sweet it must be up there in Heaven,
Were all our friends and love ones have gone?

No fears, no tears, no pain or no sorrows,
How sweet it is to be going home.
