The heart grows weary and the soul grows weak
Peace my Dear God is all I seek
I have tried Lord to do things the best I can
Fought for what is right and to be a good man

My hands tremble and I am at a loss for words
I walk the streets at night listening to the songs of the birds
Their songs are somber as even they cry
Even they know it is my desire to die

What I am asking for Lord is the right to come home
My body no longer has the energy, this Earth to roam
Please hear me Lord and answer this one final prayer
Welcome me home Lord and let me forever rest there

A wonderful write about asking for what we cannot reach or provide on our own. Calling on who we believe in to guide us to tranquility. Having such faith shows strength in mind and heart. Well written my friend.

take care

dw, such sorrow, but with a request that brings comfort to the heart. Sadness lingers in your words. Every line seems replete with it. You convey your sentiments with ease and bring your reader into the realm of your emotion, line after painful line. Beautifully done.

The soul's plea for release, tired of the struggle with sadness pervading ,the feeling that life is no longer home, beautiful in its depth and sensitivity and so sad when hearing the yearning.

It is in those lost moments, when we feel
at our most weak and exhausted, that
we can hear our God in the world around us.

I too, have felt this weariness, and I too
asked to come home, so I can relate to the
yearning. Just know that the days do get
easier again, just keep listening to Him.

Beautiful and sad, but truth, none the less.

Be well,
Loende

Beautiful and sad. It's full of the philosophy, pretty dark for me, I think, but so religious. Probably, it also gives it power of a prayer.
Well done, deadwriter.
Take care.
Alexa.
