Sanity of the Insane

Contributed by TundraHydra on Saturday, 12th April 2003 @ 06:05:00 AM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

I strive to make my life seem more alive
But I feel deprived of the basic needs
So I cry to the outside
But still I am denied
For they said that I had lied
And therefore my punishment justified
All the torments of a crazy yet sane man, to me applied
Locked in a room previously sanctified
It is in this room that I slowly die
Surrounded around by mirrors
So I could see myself eye to eye to eye to eye
The madness is enough to make one wonder why
Why one isn't crusified for all the lies
It is here, in this room so fortified
That I decide to no longer hide
As I had in times gone by and by
I turned to face myself, resolve finalized
And yet as I looked I was mortified
By the ever-present, ever-growing
Ever-watching, ever-knowing darkness in my eyes
A darkness that tries one's sanity
Pries away any sense of feeling
As it took my emotions I cried
"Why God? Why. Why. Why."
My tears done cried and dried
My brain charred and fried
Thus making my sanity, and therefore my insanity, amplified
No wonder from myself I shied
I was a shell half empty, a man without a bride
A cup full of cyanide
From this many meanings one can derive
I am a wandering soul without his pride
If one say that I am sane
I can, will, and must reply
"On the contrary, my good man, you sir have just lied."
