[bodytext] => Part of me thought it understood, and spoke out in the night: "Fill your spirit to the brim Not with fear and visions dim. Simple sight will suffice. Prosper in the radiant light." But now I know I must accept the way of worldly things, As one thing comes, another goes, as if they were on strings. The wise heart alone sees its path Through tumultuous sinews, struck in time. The wings of the future carry solemn regret Over the sea, and hide Me from Myself. Accepting devilish notions, connections in high places, A guilty lamb closes its eyes to salvation. The ancient Trojan passage sealed, Night-time spectres fall upon a quaking soul By song. A harmonic hymn. Offbeat. Aspiring to purity -- the sole escape To cast off temporal specks and laurels From the honour and dignity of that place, Forcing thoughts through, like a candy- coloured rod, into the gaping jaws of life. The steady tide will claim another layer of soil While cracked and covetous creatures their pearls withhold.
