How I love you
Those lemonade lips and sweet taste
That remind me of home

How you sang and wept
That shore of waltzing matildas
Full hips without a home.
Do you remember

Candyfloss and ruby girls
In carnivals and late night balls
Under leaves of night crescent
And scented handkerchiefs

You stood there saying
Nothing, silence and more
And how I slept
Resting my life upon the lap (of)

Candyfloss and ruby girls
Yesterdays belle
And yesteryear's beau
Asking

When I come home
Lacking the dream
Will you remind me of

Reminded me of June 1948 when I was a Spitfire pilot operating in Malaya. Last flight before short service commission ended.

Within a month I was back home with a part time job as a cattle cake mill operative preparing to work my way through university
(special degree courses open to ex servicemen

From the sublime to the rediculous

Somehow I didn't find de-idealisation too difficult to accept. I was lucky to find a girl that made my life heaven for those few years (read my poem"The way we were")

I'm comming to like your snappy style
