[title] => A MESSAGE OF MAHALO FROM THE MAINLAND
[time] => 2010-01-07 09:33:02
[hometext] => The following is my heartfelt message of thanks in parting to that special hula girl with whom I posed for a photo on my visit to the Paradise Cove Luau on Oahu, Hawaii: A message of mahalo to all Paradise Cove.
[bodytext] => Aloha Heavenly Hula Girl; Proud Polynesian Princess. You probably don’t remember me, But it behooves me this to express: We were on a September sojourn, My mother and I from the mainland. It was our first vacation in Hawaii To see the sun, surf and sand. We came. We saw. We were in awe! We adore your heartland--your shore! Even after seven continents, Still the beauty of Earth was not full. For God so loved the world, that He gave us the land of H ula, A loha, W aves A nd I slands I ndescribable. And from these words came its name, In the first letter of each word it is heard. Hail to the Promised Land of Polynesia, Above all travel destinations preferred! It was our last night on Oahu, To Paradise Cove we went. The eighth of September, 2009; A date of memories and merriment. You were standing adorned in your finery; A Hawaiian Hula Girl extraordinaire. I seized the night and into the eyes Of Polynesian pride did I stare! I asked your camera girl if she Would immortalize this moment. “Suuure!” she replied eagerly; “Aloha,” you said to me in exotic accent. You spoke...I was speechless, But managed an awkward answer. And thus we posed for that especial portrait: A mere mortal with a Goddess and Hula Dancer. You autographed my picture And I offered a handshake of gratitude. Then, we exchanged a heartfelt, “Aloha,” And this mo’olelo pokole did conclude. To the Paradise Cove family, O’Brian, entertainers and staff: I throw you a shaka salute, On all satisfied customers’ behalf! To Hawaii, little token of Heaven fallen from above, Never will I forget your people, places and palm trees: Thank you: Mahalo for the memories! And to a certain Hula Girl, Somewhere out there... Hang loose, little shaker, Whatever you dare to dream or dream to dare! Hau’oli Makahiki Hou to you and your ohana, --Demetrius [comments] => 3 [counter] => 301 [topic] => 37 [informant] => Demetrius_F_P_Stuwart [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 6 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => ThankYouPoems )
