who could hold on to the flame
but I ran out of matches
you never had them at all

It was more of me wanting you
then you ever wanting to
turn it all around
and start it all again

Wishful thinking's down the drain
you were a goddess dear
And I know this sounds insane
but I wish that you were here
I know I said all those things
and yeah they were true
but despite all your hurting me
I just can't hurt you

With you it was tug-a-war
and you had me on the floor
embarrassed burn on my face
and you dragging me everywhere

It was an endless fight
of who was wrong and who was right
the latter was always me
I'm not being vein at all

She was my battery pack
I was running out of juice
Every time I turned my back
She'd be tying me my noose
I know I said all those things
and yeah they were true
but despite all your hurting me
I just can't hurt you

There she was at her window
Smiling down on me
like the sun to the street
she dried up all my tears
There I was on that ladder
looking up to you
You were all that mattered
for years and years and years

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
