Array ( [sid] => 156027 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Dementia [time] => 2009-12-17 17:21:50 [hometext] => Fuelled by my Nana who suffered from dementia, she died suddenly whilst in respite care. [bodytext] => As time passes by you keep moving on, regardless of the trouble that finds you. The boundaries you break, the risks that you take; so selfless and strong for your families sake.

Your life starts to pass by, getting faster each day. In the blink of an eye another year has gone by. All the people you know start to get up and go. One after the other, in what seems like a day. Each one saying goodbye in their own special way.

The light becomes dimmer as darkness sets in and tasks that you face become harder. People you once knew, who have come and passed through, start to reappear in your head. The world starts to spin now the lights very dim and all that you hoped for has withered.

The faces you see are familiar some how but you cant quiet place their relation. Triggers from the past also dont last and the photographs in your mind are now tattered.

Confusion sets in as the light starts to flicker, in the empty room once full of voices and laughter. As the light burns out and you try to hold on everything you once knew has vanished.

Its the cruelest way to go, when you feel so alone, even though in a room full of loved ones! beautiful and heart wrenchingly sad dementia is very cruel and you have captured this in your poem whilst showing a deep love for your nana reflected in the warmth of your writing
