[title] => Thank God for your enemies
[time] => 2009-12-03 10:47:37
[hometext] => This was my thanksgiving reflection
[bodytext] => We have reasons to count our blessing throughout the year and thank God for them. We send out cards to our loved ones, families and friends to express our appreciation for the value they have placed on our lives. This year however, I will like us to take this ritual even further. That elite group of men and women that touched our lives negatively on many different levels and made our lives less pleasant are the missing links and chains that led to our success. Without them, we will never have been pushed to be our best. For this reason, with humility and sincerity of heart, I want us to say thank you to everybody, including all our enemies and those who hate us; because they pushed us to improve ourselves. So Everyone who wrote you off and counted you out, I say "Thank You." To everyone that ignored your phone calls, text messages and emails when you desperately needed them To all those that talked bad about you and made a mockery of you To those that laughed at you when you failed and made you a caricature of what success ought to be Those that spoke ill of you and threw stones at you, when what you needed was a kind word and spiritual upliftment. To those that got you fired from your job To those that trashed your resume before HR could even see it To those that called you brother and stabbed you in the back To those who called your sister and then questioned your morality over the phone To those pastors that used their pulpits as a negative pedestal to lambaste you, instead of preaching about the love and mercy of Christ our Lord and Savior All those that said “you will never do well or amount to anything..." To those that had condemned you to perpetual dependence on food stamps and welfare checks. To those that gave up on you, when God was still holding onto you To those in your households that thought your dreams were pipe dreams and wrote you off as a non-starter and a mad man. To those that betrayed you to your family and business partners To all those that excluded you from what was an exclusive and elite group, just because they were afraid of what you might become For the long nights they made you cry bitter tears of pain and hurt To those long sleepless nights when you thought the world was a wicked jungle. To that one you loved that left you heart-broken for another. To that fiancé that left you To those that made you feel sick Those that prayed that you should fail Those that wanted you to die To that baby’s daddy that left you penniless with a small child to clothe and feed To those that lied about you to your husband or wife and caused your divorce To that man that told you he loved you when he knew perfectly well you were not what he wanted To the girl that left you for another man because you had nothing To the lonely and dark nights when you felt weak and alone You were not as ready and determined like you are now You were not as determined to change things like you are now So thank God for your enemies——they empower you Thank God for them——they pushed you Look at you now Say thank you "Frenemy"——see how far God has brought me I will propose that you send cards to all those that wrote you off and thank them wholeheartedly. Without these enemies or haters, you will never have had the drive that you now have You will not have been able to accomplish all that you have accomplished so far. So instead of fighting back, use their negativity to your advantage. Adjust your situation and turn your weaknesses into strengths Roll out the red carpet for your enemies and haters They are your VIPs and honorable guests They will have to seat with you at the high table so they could take a closer look at what you have become When they wrote you off, God wrote you back right in Make sure your table is large enough to contain all of them Do not un-invite or forget anyone of them. The psalmist says “he prepares a table before me in the presence of my enemies” They are your greatest assets because without them, you will not reach for your God-given inner strengths My God, they are my steroid They pump me up and keep me going They cause me to work harder, run faster and to jump higher No coach or a motivational speaker could ever get me pumped up like my enemies and haters do No one leaves me determined to succeed like my enemies and haters. Thank God for my enemies-- Thank your enemies this year.
