I breathed in deep as the doors slid open before me
Again.

I walked through the hallways alone
ALONE.
and you're opening your eyes thousands of miles away
oblivious.

My feet shuffled down the corridor of familiar grief
to the precious bedside of a miracle
our daughter
Isabella.

You don't know that she has made her entrance into the world
grand and beautiful
you don't know much at all

So I shrudder through the hours wondering
what world you live in
while my universe and the family that we built together
sway in the winds of change
hanging, like weighted guilt in the balance
all my world threatening to crumble

ALONE.

and I want to scream
shriek in your ears
loud.
I want you to look in on me and see the huddled mess that you left
betrayed.
broken.

ALONE.

You don't know much
in a world full of you
nothing of this family that we built together
you oblivious in your own stupor
with expectations weighted on me like guilt
you know that I will shuffle down the corridors of reality
that I will summon up the necessary strength and courage
to move forward
in fact, you're counting on it
aren't you?

Like some twisted faith
you believe that I will hold our universe together
ALONE.
you believe that Riley is tucked into bed every night with a kiss
Wakes every morning to breakfast and a warm embrace
and that a brand new tiny life is safely wrapped in my arms
you believe all this because it's true
I am doing it without you
and you're counting on it
aren't you? [comments] => 1 [counter] => 176 [topic] => 75 [informant] => weepingprophet [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 10 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => anguished )
