The writing contest has begun
It ends with your submission
$1000 dollars is the prize
And yes, some recognition
Not everyone can win
But yours has made the cut
Its made the semifinals
We like it a whole lot
Please give us your permission
To publish in a book
Your poetic submission
So everyone can look
And you can be an owner proud
Of this deluxe edition
For forty bucks by check or card
Enjoy your composition

Dear jaavys,
just as Jenni and Kindredblood, I too am laughing my arms off...that is what it stands for...isn't it? Any way, I know what you mean and it's true that you said it well. I did really regret that I couldn't afford a couple of thousand dollars to travel to Florida from Australia to the poetry convention, to collect my 10 dollar trophy that every one who turned up got ( ha ha.)
Anyway, thanks for the read...it was great!!!

Actually I attended the last conference and indeed people from all over the world go and you do get to meet other poets. The conference has its good and bad like anything else. It is true that everyone gets a trophy, the tropy is about 2 feet tall, quite impressive. Some of the participants carry it with them for three days. You also get a medal, it's huge. But the event is usu held in some great place, disney land. So I didn't go to any of the lectures and I got lost everyday. but it was fun. I'm glad you like the poem that is also true. Later |

What if we give everybody 5 trophies to give to their favorite poet? That way everybody gets a vote and it doesn't cost anything. What do you think of this idea? The trophies are virtual. |
