Viewed your beauty and grace
A tiny woodpecker perched on a pinecone, until you saw me watching
You flapped your wings together and flew off
A game of hide and seek

I am the infant child believing that you are gone forever
That when you are visually absent that you cease to exist altogether
I am here, intensely watching for you, looking back and forth
Peeling my eyes open, wider at each blink
Still I cry in fury and fear
Have you left for good? I can't see you!

But what I have known as test
You have molded into teaching
And so, you glinted off the face of the lake
I, squinting down on you, saw nothing
Still believing that you had disappeared indefinately
Looking so desperately yet never SEEING

A small chipmunk off to soak up the sun from the ridged rocks
Swaying tree branches or the wind that propells them
The very smell of life wafting up from the earth
I took in all of these marvels and still believed you invisible
Like an infant child begging for a warm embrace and not a symbol
Not a picture or a blanket with your scent, I want YOU
The real, fully physical, you

I know that you have not gone forever
I SEE you everyday in the world around me
You reach out and touch me, keep me waiting for the next embrace
I will be patient

This blew me away! Love it!!

My favorite lines. :)
