Feeding myself more garbage for the disposable trashcan
Every possibility my mind can contemplate
Can be handed to me silver on a Styrofoam plate
And though my hunger has been gracefully met
Something inside of me is not satisfied yet
For I’m searching for Waldo but don’t have a clue
There are just not enough options from the dollar menu

I went looking for America and found her legs spread
A big fat welcome into the pool where our mouths are fed
Where the sharks are swimming and the water is red
She said hello then gave me a smile
Warm as sugar and deep as the Nile
Before I knew it I was lost and my thoughts on trial
She was everything beautiful but contagious like the flu
Just another attraction for sale on the dollar menu

The billboard extended a greeting hand
To welcome the sick and hungry throughout the land
Come in it said as it offered me a seat
A place of comfort for my wandering feet
As the false advertisement rolled through my mind’s window
Filling my emptiness with dreams of being full
My thoughts stood blank like a tree that never grew
As answers stared back at me from the dollar menu

Am I a victim or part of the crime?
An innocent bystander who has found the wrong time
For death is a matter of life to be said
A reminder to those who are not yet dead
As trees to paper and mountains to dust
Everything made is bound to go bust
For there is a line that we all must wait
To alleviate, medicate, fornicate and create our fate
As the hour on your wrist watch grows late
And like a month old bill long overdue
Everything you owe goes to the dollar menu

Every place you go you feel you’ve been before
For every town is just the same,
The difference is in the name
And you just wish that there was something more
You see the sprawl with a smile across its face
It suffocates and intoxicates
But yet there is no escape
For you are trapped on earth surrounded by outer space
A lonely drop of water upon the ocean’s deepest blue
Just another penny added to the dollar menu

Is there a shortcut form 1st to last?
Or are we all stuck in 2nd place waiting to be passed
Are we always behind trying to catch up?
Being let up, shut up, fed up, tied up, but never caught up
Are we just sheep led to follow
Slaughtered with the butcher’s blade of tomorrow
Man-made lambs with haircuts of crew
Following orders from the dollar menu

Life is not handed out with a map
No easy destination to follow and tramp
For lost is the rule and found is the thumb
And those who cannot discover are both blind and dumb
From beggars to thieves and then on to kings
You trample and you ramble to hold onto things
And those you acquire set fire to your desires
Your brain is inspired to be both wired and tired
Everything you own sticks to you like glue
But you still want more from the dollar menu

I took the road unpaved in search of answers I could not create
And though I came early I soon realized I was too late
When I reached that golden top of bliss,
My only prize was loneliness
So I climbed back down the ladder of time
To search once more the fields I left behind
I had nine dollars and seven cents
To buy back my existence
I gave it my all and all that I knew
But it was still not enough for the dollar menu

Now I am stuck in that fork in the road
Wondering why you burdened me with this load
Left or right, up or down
I need to tie my shoes but they’re tied to the ground
My mind is in a civil war of sides
One side Jekyll and one side Hyde
The individual reacts to the conform
The extraordinary freaks to the norm
Up feels down and down is the new
Oh my what to do?
Just give me a cheeseburger from the dollar menu
