To the lonely oak tree that hugs last acorns before they drop
On the broken hearted ground

Desperately

Fattened squirrels take each last acorn
Ripped from the grip never to sprout new life
To the next generation

Selfishly

Devoured by gluttony half eaten and cast aside
Lie to rot and fester away
In the soul of the field

Frivolously

Branches move by swirling cold wind
Try to embrace memories of springtime life
With empty limbs

Longingly

Soon snow will fly with brisk winter nights
Lifeless and barren branches now a seedless tree
Alone in the field

Desolately

Branches once strong seen to snap with each fallen snowflake
One gust of winter cold wind splits sturdy trunk down
Shattered life long dreams

Well I'm really suprised that this hasn't received more comments because it really is a gem.
I can only conclude that somehow it was overlooked.
Keep writing, keep sharing
