To have a little love
Perhaps approval of another
Or maybe just a little understanding
Sitting waiting
Feeling your efforts are nothing but smoke and ash
Don't you know it's all illusion
It's all so fake, that approval
That only comes
If you are what they expect you to be
People should see
That devotion in your heart
For the everyone around you
If they don't love you for that
And they still ask of something else
You shouldn't join the dance
They don't deserve to be next to you
I see the devotion you have
For those who hold a place in your heart
And I know I am blessed
To be someone in that place
If I could ask anything more
All I would ever ask
Is for you to be one of the people
Held dearly in your own heart
For you to finally see that day
That you are perfectly content
To be yourself [comments] => 9 [counter] => 304 [topic] => 16 [informant] => karoody [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 14 [ratings] => 3 [editpoem] => 0 [associated] => [topicname] => FriendshipPoetry )

I tend to ponder if we can be content with ourselves, yet not perfectly, and not satisfied. Just a pondering, Karabeara.

now this is the good stuff! i really admire your profound message, becuz i think we all struggle with self-esteem and peer approval at some point. Society does taint the ideal image of who/what we ought to be. i enjoyed this read, thanx for posting it

take care

-K.Z.

Good advice, and a lot of truth, it feels to me that everything I do is nothing, it all evaporates like you say to smoke.
Great poem Kara
Hope to read more soon
