Neptune's Promise

A salt rich breath
I, hushed again
the tide
an endless migration
solid, permanent
reliable, real
Neptune’s promise
so simple
‘Come with me
return again’
‘Come with me
return again...’
waves embrace completely
but never change you
love for another
meaningless, hopeless
here
away from the combustion
away from longing eyes
forked tongues
I, hushed again
soothed like mother’s song
rocked like father’s arms
Neptune’s promise
My final faith.
