Being Involved

anguished

The absence of feeling
lost drive, empty chest
gone when her kiss left me
to taste another’s breath
How foolish we are
like children with toys
bored so quickly, so recklessly
with what we’ve already got
I’ve donned on that hat
the dunce, the jester again
how long is my purgatory
when will I be redeemed?
Strength is all I have now
how funny – I thought I was weak
broken with my shattered heart
somehow I stood again
The absence of feeling
lost direction, empty mind
love, like people, is a fickle thing
and my tormentor for being involved.
