She tells me not to cry
And that she has to go
I tell her I'll miss her
She says, "I know."
She holds me so tight
I tell her not to let go
She whispers I love you
I say, "I know."
She tells me not to cry
And that she'll always be here
I tell her I'm not crying
She says, "I can taste your tears."
I shake my head and reply
"I'll be okay."
She holds me, silently
We have nothing else to say.
"Try not to cry for me, baby"
I hear her whisper in my ear
And when I say I'm not crying
She says, "I can taste your tears."
