saving me

Contributed by desolantdreamer on Tuesday, 3rd November 2009 @ 12:01:07 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

starlight shines bright
Waiting patiently
Standing on the roof so calm
They're bidding me goodbye
Tears twinkle down my cheeks
Mimicking the dancing stars
Cold wind caressing around me
Like a soft breezy hug
Silence shattered only by my soft breaths
Inching forward my feet find the edge
Lifting my head to stare at the sky, laced with glitter
One deep breath, then another
I spread my arms like wings
The street below empty
With but a single lamp flickering it's hello to me
I start to count, ever so softly
One...Two...Thr-
The sound fills the air, that familiar tune
I know it to be one person and one person only
How could I not look down at the small phone?
Slipping it open, I take one more deep breath
Before I can say hello your voice fills my body
Warming me from head to toe
"Don't do it"
I felt like something slammed into my gut
The tears fall harder now
I could never hide anything from you
My soul is connected to you
Of course, I realize
Of course you'd know
I'm choked up and do not reply, but instead look down below
There's a figure there now, under the streetlight
Staring up at me
Thick brown eyes shine in the darkness
I hang up the phone, and pause
You're watching me, willing me with your eyes
Something in me stirs
And I step back away from the ledge

I have chills after this one
The thoughts that must have
been in your head as you wrote this

Hugs and smiles to you
Kara
