of her very own
confusion

now the dragonflies
have all but
disappeared

nothing's left any
more from all
her deceptive
illusions

the medicine cards
foretold of all
she feared

the castle wall
captured her with
the chains so bright
and alluring

thought that she could
be bridled for
only one man
at last

the aching floored her
as it began its'
fateful stirring

being with him she
thought she'd be
able to heal her
past

condolences for her
loss have long
since been given

she's been made a
widow without
benefit of any funeral

she feels that from
now on she'll not really
be livin'

her love was sentenced
to death after this
devastating tribunal

how much longer is it
on this charted plane
that she must endure

left broken-hearted
and betrayed her
soul has been forever
crushed

no more promised
futures that anyone
for her will
ensure

her tears fall endlessly now
as her world becomes
so hushed

by initiating some damage control
the peace will come just long
overdue

she's learned to shut her
heart down and
put her mind on
numb

find her path westward
turning her back on
the glass-slippered shoe

losing herself on a trip
and a drop
drowning in her vat
of rum

at one time his
passion filled her
life with joy
she had been so free

she'll not find herself
that safe again for
she's been cast aside
until the 'morrow

soon enough
she will be spent
no will left for her
to utter any pleas

another day spent without
his love she'll never be able
to survive this sorrow [comments] => 2 [counter] => 273 [topic] => 48 [informant] => jaeann [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 9 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => EmotionalPoetry )

This was a painful piece for me to read , so the pain for you must have been a hundred times worse.

It isn't easy to recover, I know, but time is kind in that respect. It blunts the sharp edges and makes the pain ease with its passing.

One day I hope you'll be able, like me, to look back and see that's true.

Good write. I could feel it, more than I wanted to.
