I opened the pages of an old hardback book
and watched dusty fireflies swirl into the light

Your face flashed across my mind
with an image of you peering over your reading glasses
quizzical and dismayed

Monday, the rain plummeted my umbrella
with rat-a-tat sounds of falling pixies by the millions
pelted from all directions

Your voice spoke softly in my ear
“I don’t know who’s wetter you or the pup”
and I was propelled back to age ten

Today, the sky is a stretched canvas
with clouds that rise up like castles
from the beauty of dissipation

I am reminded of the happy times
filled with your contagious laughter
and if moments like these were wishes
I’d only need seconds
Just long enough to say;

I love you Dad

Hi,

A wonderful tribute that I'm sure he would proud
of ..... and of its author!

Clearly he was a man who appreciated humour.
Nice that you should remember him in that vein.

While this is a real tear jerker, it also brought a smile to my face and warms the heart as it takes us through that sentimental journey.

I think everyone should be able to relate to this, in some way or another.

And you are a poet. Great metaphor and great imagery!

Kye,
this is beautiful, I agree with Tim I felt the tears in the corners of my eyes while reading this.
I loved the wording, it took me right into the thoughts with you.
Lovely tribute....

Hugs
Michelle

This is so beautiful. It brought tears to my eyes. This poem shows your love for your dad so beautifully. I felt like I was an observer and I visualized this entire moment. Amazing writing.
