time to get to class!
better not be late
or the teacher will be mad
try not to die of boredom
sitting in the back
your crush sends a note your way
how to answer back?
don't want to be caught
can't get another detention
teacher's glaring at you
time to pay attention!

first class over
running through the halls
feet pounding on linoleum
a bully jeers and calls
you try to ignore her
and all her scary friends
but they chase after you
will it ever end?
of course it will but for today
they corner you and laugh
"oh great" you think bitterly
"now i'm late for class"

you walk in with a black eye
and recieve a tardy slip
no one says a word to you
they all know who did it
after class it's lunchtime
they are serving gruel
you decide to skip lunch anyway
to avoid the ridicule

popular boy walks toward you
with a party invite
hands it to you and asks
"you're in Josie's math class-right?"
you should have known better
as you nod your head and leave
you say to yourself
"why would he invite me?"

the bell rings yet again
time for afternoon classes
time to go to prison
time to join the masses
you fall asleep in biology
and have a bad nightmare
you wake to your teacher
who's giving you The Stare

end of the last class of the day
you can finally go home
back to your comfy bed
back to your comfort zone
you round up all your books
and race to the door
bump into the new girl
who asks, "wanna come over?"
you smile and accept
you have finally made a friend
you think of middle school now
and hope it never ends.

Who says life is a bore?
It's a learning curve!

Well done - nicely written.
