Nature teaches me at times
lessons that I forget.
Being human we all
fall victim to the game
do we stay there?
Or go on?

I heard the wind come up in gales
and gazed softly out the window.
There was a flurry outside the door
leaf and branch and pinecone.
Even the birds took to sudden flight.

The leafs decided it was their time
to let go of that branch,
that they had held onto
since the first bright sunny light of spring.
Now they are free, dancing and fluttering
across the walks and dancing towards the skies.
Colorful and bold they left their mark this fall.

It made me sigh
and I about started to cry
as memories gathered round me.
Some of the happy
some of them sad
others dark and gloomy.
A little love
A little hate
A little resentment
A little neglect
Mixed in with lonely
tossed with happy
owning them all
for a moment
a mixture a storm
gathering strength
waves like the rain
pouring through me.

Then more wind snapping me back
as onto the walkway
a large branch passed
making a snap
as it rested to stay.
Sometimes in life
things always happen this way.

Back to more thoughts
and memories resting
so near and dear
others hard and torturing.
Saying goodbye,
or people just leaving.
Death all around
and the process of mourning.
The times of wounded
then mending again.
Standing back up
after taking a knock on the chin.

It all comes round
though the message is clear.
Sage and true to heart
specially at this time of year.
I am but a leaf,
the time comes to let go............

Note: That ghosts left in the closet for another day will most certain come round to haunt you maybe not tomorrow or today
but they shall come like a shadow in the night, creep up behind you and give you a fright.......

That being said, though we never forget certain people or times, the good, bad or ugly........ We must try to remember the best of each moment, picking and gleaning like the harvest, to find our souls release.

Hi Shel,

Very profound, and a great choice of words to
express yourself. Funny how autumn prompts
us all to reflect and remember.

Well done!

Tommy
