Cause pain and tears in mother's eyes
I walk the streets with my head held high
With a single question in my mind
Why?

Why are bullets flying over heads
more than the birds?
Why are battles spilling over into
ghetto's and suburbs?

Why are there more metal detectors
in schools than books?
Why are there less doctors than crooks?

Why are babies born already addicted to crack?
Why are there preachers stealing
from offerings to fill their own money stacks?

I can ask these questions
all day and night
However I'll never get an answer
that fits just right

Because I see what others don't wish to see
Our world is like a boat about to be swallowed by the sea

The sea of hate because
we can't get along
Can't let our relationships
grow strong
We all right
everyone else is wrong
That's our mentality as we
bang the hatred gong

I sit in the alleways
Where machine guns spray
Where grandmothers pray
that their grandchildren will see the next day

I wade through the rivers of blood
caused by gang violence and hate
It's not in Cali or New York
but in every single state
We'll kill ourselves soon
if we continue at this rate

Where is the love and compassion?
Were hoarding it all
like we gotta take rations

I can swim in the tears
of the mothers of kids killed at parks
Ten year old children done
before they life ever starts

I feel the flames of hate
in racism in the earth
It burns me like a raging
open hearth

And as I walk the streets of pain
I hear someone screaming my name

I turn my head and see
a teen behind a gate looking at me
"I'm sorry, Tell my parents I'll love them!"
he screams

Why I'm seeing all of this
am I cursed,
to walk through truth
untill my last ride in a hearse?

So many tears
have been shed for so many years
So many people filled
with so many fears

Why has our world become a free for all?
Because we allowed our values to fall
And those who have been chosen to lead
have ignored the call
But I'll stand tall
for you all

These are the things I see from my eyes
Hopefully I'll see the world realize
the darkened skies
hear the raging cries
and hopefully someone else will ask.

Blessed is the poet who can create art under the feelings of loss, grief and hopelessness. Wonderful delivery of such strong emotions.
