an emptyness stretches to deepest unknown places
a numbing ache creeps in swiftly at the slightest chance
it settles on my heart and i know its here to last

i find anger and resent in other's pure joy
find tears and desperation in the softest sigh
pain comes now, too often and too deep
memories flicker and they never leave me

to feel alone, just wanting protection
all i want is strong arms, to give tender affection
pretending to be happy in a life without love
waiting with dying faith, and a crying heart
