[hometext] => Description is in the poem
[bodytext] => I wrote this poem after watching the day after tomorrow. It is about a family traveling to Mexico to escape the upcoming storm. It is told in the child's point of view until the 2nd stanza, then it is the mexicans talking. But it goes back to the little girl at the end. There are spanish lines I added to the poem, and I have the meaning of them at the bottom in the right order. Father says hurry up it's a long way from here to there. Only take what you need don't more than you can bare. Mother says dress for cold the temperature will drop very low. Don't worry child we'll be there soon can't have too much farther to go. Father says quiet down can't hear the weatherman. Hurricane of snow prepared to strike nowhere left to go, we do not have a plan. Mother says wake up now we're getting closer to the south. They say the fence turned around, now the razor wire keeps us out. New York, please don't forget me as the miles between us grow longer. They don't want us here, but the storm is growing stronger. All the signs say no Gringo, there is nowhere else for you to stay. Usted no puede venir aqui, too many of you in our way. Hay tambien muchos de usteds aqui only enough room for our kind. Demasiados para alimentar not enough food to find. No queremos aqui, your people are never sober. The storm is breaking up now our endless struggle is now over. Father says get up now we will leave at dawn. Alot of people are dead, no time to grieve just pack up your things and move on. Spanish lines: You can't stay here There is too many of you here too many to feed we don't want you here [comments] => 1 [counter] => 167 [topic] => 25 [informant] => FragileStrength [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 9 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => MiscPoems )
