The Life and Death of ‘Just Another Person’

Contributed by Rosewing on Thursday, 1st August 2002 @ 05:33:22 AM in AEST
Topic: Suicide

Listen lover sighed the wind, as the pavement strolled
beneath his 4 guinea brogues and autumn leaves waved farewell
to the branch that been their home for many months;
Listen, for you must know the message that I bring
know the sound of the summer raindrops beating on your barren breast
know the signs, and understand its meaning.
You’re only one in the world (a great big ugly world)
you’re only one in a crowd of billions, as important as the next man
yet always unknown, and destined to remain so.
That roadway looks polite, and might serve your suicidal whim,
No-one would miss you, (except the paving stones
which lack your warmth. The sunlight sings its shadow
from the blue of sky, while dreams descend to engulf you
but it’s just utopia, you knew that though didn’t you?
you’re dreaming again……………
Linda smiled through the cracked haze of the galleon room,
and the Cravens Arms stretch out to drag you under,
aesthetically she threw a rope to rescue you,
but ghosts can’t live forever.
Oh go on then, stuff your face with christmas pudding
drink your fill of wine, laugh, joke enjoy yourself
and all in the name of Christmas…“Balls to Christmas!”
That’s it swear now, it won’t do you any good
you’ve had it hypocrite, there are too many dreamers in the world already
too many b***ards, too many people trying to do you down!
Never mind, it comes to us all you’ve still got love, - of sorts
and what colour is love today? Linda, Oh yes..linda..
God how I wish I could get out …it stinks this world
Stinks! of the stench of corrupt corporations,
The smell of jealous minds and stagnant society.
Oh get lost you make me sick, with your whining moans
sick sick sick
go on step under your car, or jump off Debenhams
I won’t save you – she wont save you
You’re finished
finished
FINISHED………………

And so he kissed the silken sky,
then hurtled far below it
the life and death of ‘just another person’
by just another poet.

Don't we all wish to be important? This world can be a cruel place... but no matter how little of a life we have, it's still life. It's better than not having one at all, right? Thanks for the write...
