shadowed by amber ones,
his eyes watching life,
the wolf watching him.
As he grows he reaches out,
a grasping hand searching,
in turn and in time,
his differences set him apart,
his differences bring him pain,
and time again he is knocked to the ground,
each time he called out in pain.
The wolf rose closer and closer to the surface with each fall
and in an instent the wolf moved to strike
the growl surged through his mind
rage surged through their veins.
The wolf struck out to protect him
sheltering the boy's body and mind,
the wolf would handle the rage and the damage
baring it all and hiding it away
and this is how they travelled
a boy and his wolf
learning and listening the boy saw beauty and hope
fighting and protecting the wolf knew strength
and with a turn of the world they came to a cross road
as crossroads they had come to many
but this time she was waiting
without fear of repisal the boy reached out
expecting to be denied but not fearing
with shock he fealt hers return his grasp
and with action on action
the boys shield dropped
lain bare and naked to her eyes
but consumed witht eh warmth of her heart
In that moment he knew he had a place in the world
and hand in hand the journey continued
the boy, the girl and the wolf
the wolf falling back to watch the travellers speak
talking of life and love
growing with each step
hand in hand
with each storm that arose
each threat
the wolf would rise and then sleep once more
leaving the boy to learn and grow
the boy saw more and more of the worlds decadence
but more of it's beauty
and as time turned
doing as time does
the exposure slowly but surelly drained the boy
he had travelled so long sheltering himself
realities harsh brutality had been forgotten
now exposed to worse than he could imagine
as his pain, anguish and frustration
he had always been left to deal with
but in idea the wolf had always been there
his hands had not found anything he could not handle
and nowlain across his heart was seeing her bare the worlds torture
watching pain strike her to the heart
feeling her anguish with each tear
her dismay in every embrace
the boys fight was one he couldn't win
but also one he couldn't give up
and all the wolf could do was watch
watching the boy shatter with the pressure
with each step her dragon
her fear and her pain
it assailed them
until there was but one last realisation
one last effort he could give before pushing her to fly
it was to face her dragon
the source of her pain
to throw what he had left as the three stood
the dragon reared and snaked skyward
his one last act
the last act he could try for her
it circled, always threatening
then moved to strike
in an instant the boy saw what was hidden
the full force of her of her pain and fear in technicolour
the wolf leapt fourth in protection
and the girl stepped to his side
even in her anguish
casting her aside with one
striking the wolf aside with the other
this became his fight
th dragon tore through his form
in one act he had found redemption and damnation
and all he could say to her was "fly"
and as it left it took the one thing
the very last thing he had
and the only thing he could sacrifice for her
his heart
when he awoke she was gone
all he knew now was pain
all he had was lost
even something he didn't know he could loose
they were gone
torn away in the blink of an eye
the last string had been broken
his grasp had been broken
as well as his reality
the trail was gone
and behind every tree a nightmare waited
in every sunset her saw her eyes
every sun rise was cold
as with his trail, his mind was also lost
never leaving his side the wolf gave him it's all
guiding him as it could through the forest
love was gone, heart was gone, hope was gone
all that keapt him going was the wolves strength
as they trudged and stumbled
the years passed as years do
until a hand from the shadows
taking his in her drawing him from the darkness
from his insanity
with still only the wolf to drive him
all he could do was repay the loving eyes with thank you
with the years it was an old wolf that now walked beside
and the boy long forgotten a man stood in his place
the new trail was now not just his
not just to the future
but one that was driven
one that was owing
his path for lack of heart was to teach
reaching out his hand to those that had lost
lost direction
lost hope
some saw his hand as he had seen hers
the girl who had been waiting at the crossroads
and with each of these connections
he tore at himself as he pushed them to fly
hopeing that each time he had managed to guid their path
show them how to not end up lost
as he returned time and time again
facing his nightmare over
his path was now set
An olf wolf, chasing the dragon
