And on it there’s a grin
It’s there to show the outside world
That I don’t think of him

And even when the day is done
And I am home at last
I don't want friends to see me sad
So I still wear the mask

It's not until the night-time comes
When I head off to bed
That I decide that now it's safe
To take it from my head

I hear it as it hits the floor
I feel as if I'm free
And then I turn the light switch off
So darkness swallows me

I slowly climb into my bed
I try to settle down
I clasp my hands across my chest
The grin is now a frown

I feel the memories smother me
And God knows how I try
To stop the sadness breaking in
But still it makes me cry

The rivers trickle down my face
They're cooling as they flow
They leave a stain upon my cheeks
A stain that will not show

Then when the well is all dried up
I start to feel relief
I heave a sigh and close my eyes
For now, there's no more grief [comments] => 2 [counter] => 186 [topic] => 32 [informant] => jessb3 [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 9 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => SadPoetry )

You and me write in similar styles Jess....maybe that's why i like this so much!! LOL
Seriously though, it was well written, flowed smoothly, said everthing that needed to be said, ended nicely. Can't rate it a 6 as it only goes up to a 5 - nicely done.
Cheers, John.
