Array ( [sid] => 153291 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => For My Brother [time] => 2009-09-15 23:34:49 [hometext] => My brother always asked me to write him a poem so I decided to write him one for his birthday. :o) [bodytext] => It's your birthday tomorrow and as usual
I find myself stuck for ideas
I try hard to think of the perfect gift
But perfection just never appears

As I'm racking my brain, a lightbulb starts glowing!
I've got it! I'll think of a rhyme!
My writing cap on, I get on with the task
Making sure not to waste any time

So now I've decided to write you a poem
I once again find myself thinking
For it's awkward to put the words down on paper
So I stare at the screen, never blinking

I always proof read and reading above
I certainly sound like a loon
My thoughts don't seem to be clear at all
But I'm sure I will make my point soon

You're a brother, a friend, a personal stylist
Of course you're much more than that
You're the person that listens when I'm being silly
And the person who's happy to chat

You annoy me, we fight, we run round the house
And through all of the laughter and tears
I'll never forget the millions of moments
We've experienced in all our past years

I admit the above got a little bit soppy
And now all I have left is to say
That with all of my heart, I send you my best
And wish you a Happy Birthday [comments] => 2 [counter] => 246 [topic] => 10 [informant] => jessb3 [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 8 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => BirthdayPoems )

LOL. That's really excellent, and i'll bet your brother will always remember it and always hold a place in his heart....unlike the one i wrote for my father a few years back:

Today is such a special day
a day for celebrations,
you've made it through another year
my sincere congratulations.
But have you ever stopped to contemplate
that each and every breath,
might be the last you ever breathe
before you meet your death?
I don't mean to sound alarmist
nor to spoil your special day,
but face the facts, you're getting old
but that's just natures way.
So take the time to savor life
it's full of joy and wonder,
or next time when your birthday comes
you just might be six feet under.

LOL

Nice one - says it all - he should be pleased with that!

Well done!

Tommy
