Or the horrified rich man’s taste
Silver stockings hung with care
While big investors bet with terror
Losing all or losing none
Makes no difference for anyone
It all comes down to fold or bet
The deck is stacked and you are set
Rain hits the window you can’t see
Not even an ounce of humility
Corporate America has sucked you in
When all you had was a dime to begin
Now thousands each day but you are alone
You’re barely a person we used to know. [comments] => 6 [counter] => 240 [topic] => 32 [informant] => beautiful_letdowns [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 9 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => SadPoetry )

Hi there,

Too true, and as was previously stated, not
limited to America.

Money is not the root of all evil ........
The 'Worship' of money is the root of all evil!

Tommy

Yep, we do indeed live in a dangerously skewed
world. And even now, even today, even right
now, as the financial infrastructure crumbles
everywhere, people are still worshiping
money. I wonder what exactly it will take to
wake people up...?

Nice job and thank you for sharing it with us.

Be well,
~Loende

I agree with Tommy, it is the "worship" of money that is evil. It is the idea that the
more you have, the more important, or substantial, or valuable you are. BAH! It's
not what we have, but what we do that makes us worthy. I can see why you'd
want to blame the capitalist system for these evils, but in all honesty regardless of
the economic system that is present, all humans put more value on money than
they should. And if you travel back in history, you'll find it began long before
the "New World" was even settled. No matter what you call it .. dollar, pound,
yen, franc, rupee, pesos, mark, etc. ... they all drive the masses, when it is the
betterment of humankind that should drive them. It's sad when the acquisition of
wealth is deemed a worthy pursuit. Hasn't anyone read Charles Dickens? lol

(Sadder still, the inequity of salary paid for fundamental careers as opposed
to lets say, more glamourous ones(?) But that's another gripe altogether. lol)

Good piece. Very thought provoking and emotive!

~ Breezy
