Array ( [sid] => 15275 [catid] => 1 [aid] => Mick [title] => Christmas in April [time] => 2003-03-30 22:25:00 [hometext] => This is a poem I wrote last year and posted in July "Christmas in July" But I am reposting it, because I think it is a poem that is needed right now with our soldiers in Iraq. [bodytext] => CHRISTMAS IN APRIL

IF CHRISTMAS COULD BE IN APRIL, IF ONLY FOR THIS YEAR,
WHAT A LIFT FOR THE NATION, WITH MUCH NEEDED CHEER.
IF WE COULD FORGET ABOUT OUR PROBLEMS, IF ONLY FOR ONE DAY,
AND ALLOW OUR FAMILIES TO UNITE, IN THE BEST KIND OF WAY.
ENJOY THE LIGHTS ON THE TREES, AND THE SINGING OF THE CHOIR,
THEN THE SPIRITS OF THE PEOPLE COULDN’T GET MUCH HIGHER.
WAR WOULD SEISE TO EXSIST, NO FIGHTING COME WHAT MAY,
KILLINGS WOULD COME TO AN END, AND PEACE WOULD HAVE ITS STAY.
THERE BE NO POLITICAL PARTIES FIGHTING FOR YOUR VOTE,
OUR NATIONS WOULD COME TOGETHER, WITH HEARTS FULLED WITH HOPE.
WE WOULD DUST OFF OUR BIBLES, AND READ ABOUT HIS BIRTH,
AND REMEMBER THAT OUR SAVIOR ONCE LIVED UPON THIS EARTH.
AM I REALLY ASKING TOO MUCH FOR THE CHRISTMAS SEASON TO BE NEAR,
TO GIVEN PEOPLE A REAL REASON TO DRY UP ALL THEIR TEARS.
IT’S BEEN A PAINFUL YEAR AND WE NEED THIS TYPE OF BREAK,
FOR CHRISTMAS TO BE IN OUR HEARTS EIGHT MONTHS EARLY, WHAT WOULD IT TAKE?

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
