I feel your pain.
They torture you,
I feel the same.

Each day we live
Our different lives;
Your’s filled with fear,
Mine filled with lies.

When times are hard,
We lose the fight;
But spirits live
On through the night.

Things will work
Out in the end;
And one day we’ll
Be together again.

So don’t lose hope,
And don’t you cry,
Because hope is
The last to die.

Hello, Fudge! (I love fudge.) Thought is poem was excellent. I thought of how it could relate to a soldier, perhaps a prisoner of war, and his wife who is waiting and hoping for his return. Bizzy 'Psalm 46;10'

Starts out alright but gets awfully sentimental at the end. (does anyone really feel comforted by "things will work out in the end?")

also, hard to swallow that pain can torture (l.2-3) torture causes pain; almost by definition. so how can pain cause torture?

I think the Russian proverb is a bit more ironic than you' ve grasped yet. Ever seen someone tortured by hope? Because hope is the last to die.
