Boys trying to find love
underneath the trembling quiver
of soft lips and teary eyes

Night overcomes the day
as happily ever after
becomes farther and farther away

I told you goodbye, because you hurt me
because you hurt me
But I can't rip the I Love You out of me

Falling away from being in your arms
I smother my tears into a pillow,
into the fumes of a cigarette

I let go despite my need
for hands to hold and arms to cradle
Does loneliness eat away at your heart each night?

Who am I without you
And does it have to end this way?
What good is love if it's like this?

I open my eyes to fierce winds
hopeless dreams of you chasing me
but God doesn't speak

Heartache, withdrawal, collapse
I break down and barely breathe
your heart in my hand, mine between your teeth. This definitely hits a nerve with me and I would imagine with a lot of people as well.
Especially love the last line, brilliant imagery.

Wow, this was potent!! Especially that last line. Man, that was emotional.
I really loved this line also,

"But I can't rip the I Love You out of me"

You said with that something I've felt many times but could never
articulate! Damn fine writing here. Wholly emotive!
