Array ( [sid] => 152621 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Forever Peacefully Asleep [time] => 2009-08-27 06:43:28 [hometext] => The topic of this poem is still too fresh to discuss with those I am close to. So I wrote about it in hopes that it would ease the pain [bodytext] => Sitting in the shade the music cutting deep to the core
The phone rings, I hit silent, then I hit ignore
Life as we knew it stopped that moment, for one & for all
Unknown still among us, till we get another call

The phone inside the window barely audible above the song
The shock of a lifetime, and somehow life still goes on
The car ride there, the shock set in
A miscommunication is what it must have been

The house just ahead
Lights red and blue
Friends sitting at the table unsure of what to do
Try to stop me, You don’t know who I am
That was my princess, I was her aunt
No answers to be found, I’m not where I’m needed
Not crying yet, but inside my heart is bleeding

Through the doors, I see a friend
I realize this bad day will never end
The next door unforgiving
My strength is finally shown
My brother now is screaming
Amongst all we are alone

There is my princess my little baby girl
A shell of what she was no longer anything more
My hero leans above her Screaming “why oh why oh why “
His wife sits beside him, out of tears to cry
I walk back out the door, Try to breathe when there is no air
Maybe if I close my eyes,
When I open them she will be there

Our nurse, my friend, forever by our side
“You will cause you have to; be strong Di”

I talk to the people I explain the lack of what we know
The cops explain procedure, No one at the house can go
The doctors worried, Not about what can’t be changed
But the parents who must go on and carry on her name

The bad day never ended
Though we carry on as much as we can
We rely on the love of family and the support of all our friends
Our Princess is now an angel
Watching over us while we sleep
The pain has eased a little though the heart ache is just as deep
The day hurts so much to remember
But in her memory I keep
My little angel lying there forever peacefully asleep [comments] => 2 [counter] => 225 [topic] => 51 [informant] => DD [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Event )

This is incredibly heart wrenching. I'm so sorry for your loss. Your writing is
impeccable. This is replete with emotive quality. There is something incredibly
cathartic about writing. It clears us in a way that nothing else could.

Your love, strength and bravery are an inspiration.

Wishing you peace and continued strength,

~ Breezy
