lol... I find it interesting that a couple of people thought it "sweet" and "lovely". I suppose if drowning is sweet and lovely, then uh, to each their own?
Okay, anyway, yes, I can relate as I almost drown once and it was not at all a very pleasant experience.
But yes, I actually remember sudden tranquilty and a light after the freaking horrific panic but then again I was very drunk. I think it might have actually been an acceptance that I am dying. The next thing I knew I was lying on a patio with people all around and I coughed up water. My lungs hurt like hell and the rest of the night I was in a very cranky mood. :-)
But, yes, I can definitely relate and yes, hopefully there is "paradise" after death.
