King Of The Street

Topic: Lifepoems

King Of The Street

Completely numb, no feelings remain
This time’s for keeps, it’s not a game
The final showdown is here
No time to think about fear

Rumor has it a message you are trying to send
By today bringing my life to its end
I am standing tall, bold and true
Come on out, I am ready for you

I hear a shot and a car window breaks
You thought this would give me the shakes
Your choice is to shoot and run
Pull out your knife, let’s have some fun

There was time when I was respected on the street
Now you think it is your turn to sit in my seat
Jumping and slashing you think you can’t lose
But this old man will beat you with calculated moves

You twist and spin and you twist and turn
Then you feel that distinctive burn
My blade has sliced right across your chest
I told you that I was still the best

Your life by rights is not mine to take
But it is you or me so that choice I will make
Judge, jury and executioner all in one fatal blow
Here I remain while straight to Hell you will go

Quite the adrenaline rush
It was dark and bloody
yet everything seemed justified
for the greater good
nicely scripted
